Aesthetics & Beauty Guide Jan 2011

Finally finished wrapping up Aesthetics & Beauty Guide (ABG) January 2011 issue (it’s a coincidence that it looks so Christmassy btw). People, especially women, are always envious of me whenever I tell them what I do – which is review beauty treatments for work. Indeed, I have to admit that my job is pretty amazing and in this issue, I get to try out an array of procedures to treat skin problems as well as test-drive the latest slimming machines (goodbye love handles!) in our Imperfections Special! In fact, you will even read about the very treatment that super-svelte Dr Georgia Lee uses on herself to maintain her figure!

Find out what the top 10 most popular aesthetic treatments are and the kind of research you should do on your doctor before going for a procedure. Want to improve yourself but not keen to go under the knife? Then check out our feature on Sculptra – a non-surgical face lift, and breast fillers for shapelier breasts in 60 minutes flat! I also chat with successful entrepreneur, Merry Riana, to find out her success and beauty secrets, and if this multi-hyphenate (author, businesswoman, motivational speaker, mentor and mother) can keep herself groomed to perfection, you have no excuses!

ABG will hit newsstands end January, look out for it! Now, I just to to finish my other magazine, The Republic ( and I’ll be freeeeeeee…:)

Merry Christmas everyone!

Aesthetics & Beauty Guide

Aesthetics & Beauty Guide (ABG) is the first aesthetics magazine from Singapore to bridge the information gap between medical professionals and the layman. In every issue, you will find detailed treatment reviews , the lowdown on the latest aesthetic treatments available and profiles of qualified medical professionals – basically, your go-to guide for all things aesthetics.

I started last year in my personal pursuit to look for the best aesthetic treatments for myself. My partnership with ABG has allowed me to share my vast experience with a wider pool of women (and men!).  In the name of “work”, I’ve reviewed almost 20 treatments and looking at my skin now – smooth, radiant and taut, I’m definitely a big believer that aesthetic treatments can help you get better skin and maintain your complexion for many years to come.

In this inaugural issue of ABG, you’ll get a crash course in Aesthetics 101, reviews of the latest and most effective aesthetic treatments, hear from Dr Georgia Lee as she talks about her new skincare range, get all your acne questions answered by renown dermatologist, Dr Joyce Lim, get the skinny on the newest slimming treatments to get rid of your wobbly bits, and many more health and beauty tips.

ABG is available at all major newstands and bookstores, get your copy before it’s sold out (I hear that Kino and Borders have had to replenish and copies are being stolen from doctors’ clinics)!

Want to try these new aesthetic treatments?

28 May 2010
I have these new and exciting treatments waiting for review:

1) Crystal Clear Program – a combination of Cosmelan Depigmentation, Photorejuvenation and oral anti-oxidant program.

2) Ageless Beauty Program – Ultherapy combined with products consisting of botanical stem cell regenerative serum for face, eye elixir, and a BB Solar Protector (SPF 30) which is a multi-functional cream that acts as a cover-up, mineral block and a therapeutic moisturiser.

However, due to overwhelming response – I get emails daily from readers wanting to try treatments & it’s so hard for me to choose, I’ve decided to run a contest and let the winner review the treatment.

Here’s what you need to do if you are keen to try any of the above treatments:

1. Refer your friends to join Review Anti Aging Fanpage then email me the names of friends you’ve referred. My email is [email protected]

2. I will check to see if your friends have joined my Fanpage
3. Person with most referred friends will win the above treatments
4. Contest ends June 21, 2010

Simple right? Good luck and I hope to see you soon for your treatment :)

Donatella Versace

Donatella Versace

This is the latest photo of Donatella Versace. Doesn’t she look scary? Like a living corpse…and she is still sun-tanning!

To avoid looking like her, avoid the sun and if you must, make sure you apply lots of sunblock (I normally do that as well as cover my head with a towel if I’m at the pool).

You’ll need more than sun avoidance to maintain your looks today - what with the amount of chemicals we consume, hectic lifestyles we lead and stronger UV rays thanks to global warming . Being a guinea pig for my anti aging website, I am lucky to be able to try all the latest anti aging aesthetic treatments and here’s my top picks to keep you looking youthful from head to toe:

For radiant and poreless skin:

Erbium Laser Treatment

If money was no object:

Ulthera Face Lifting Treatment

Having whiter teeth will make you look younger and more attractive:

BriteSmile Teeth Whitening Treatment

Get rid of dark eye rings for an instant, refreshed look:

Underye Fillers

Not into lasers, but want clearer and brighter skin, try this:

Ferulic Acid Chemical Peel

Want to get fit and remove cellulite at the same time? This treatment will help:

Power Plate Weight Loss and Cellulite Treatment

For a luxurious facial that will give you an instant glow:

Fil Anti Aging Stem Celluar Treatment

The Treatment Review That Fell Through

Sculptra consultation

Sculptra consultation

I was all set to review my first filler treatment today. It involves Sculptra, a natural collagen stimulator that will help lift and smooth skin without paralysing facial muscles or limiting your natural facial expressions.

Results include: a youthful appearance with gradual, natural-looking results, skin is also rejuvenated due to the collagen. Treatment with Sculptra can last up to two years.

Naturally, I was excited to witness the results, but, we found out that my candidate, Lee Lee, was allergic to the main ingredient, poly-L-actic acid!

Note to self: Next time, check if candidate has any medical allergies!

In the end, we did a patch test and sent Lee Lee home. If she doesn’t have any allergies, we can do the treatment on her at another date.
