Donatella Versace

Donatella Versace

This is the latest photo of Donatella Versace. Doesn’t she look scary? Like a living corpse…and she is still sun-tanning!

To avoid looking like her, avoid the sun and if you must, make sure you apply lots of sunblock (I normally do that as well as cover my head with a towel if I’m at the pool).

You’ll need more than sun avoidance to maintain your looks today - what with the amount of chemicals we consume, hectic lifestyles we lead and stronger UV rays thanks to global warming . Being a guinea pig for my anti aging website, I am lucky to be able to try all the latest anti aging aesthetic treatments and here’s my top picks to keep you looking youthful from head to toe:

For radiant and poreless skin:

Erbium Laser Treatment

If money was no object:

Ulthera Face Lifting Treatment

Having whiter teeth will make you look younger and more attractive:

BriteSmile Teeth Whitening Treatment

Get rid of dark eye rings for an instant, refreshed look:

Underye Fillers

Not into lasers, but want clearer and brighter skin, try this:

Ferulic Acid Chemical Peel

Want to get fit and remove cellulite at the same time? This treatment will help:

Power Plate Weight Loss and Cellulite Treatment

For a luxurious facial that will give you an instant glow:

Invitation to Dr Georgia Lee’s party

7 February 2010

Picture1

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you’ll know who Dr Georgia Lee is. She is Singapore’s undisputed anti aging queen and celebrities flock to her in droves to maintain their looks. The first doctor to break news about the latest face-lifting machine, Ulthera (on my anti aging website, ReviewAntiAging.com) as well as purchase the $250,000 dream machine, patients of this doyenne can count on her to always be on the forefront of anti aging treatments.

Besides work, Dr Lee is also a doctor who sure knows how to have a good time! Whether it is attending the most stylish party in town or hosting her own shindig, you can count on her to show up looking spectacular. Not one to shy from fashion trends, be it D&G pyjamas or Balenciaga’s Bladerunner-esque tights, she wears them all with panache.

Ok, my mind is blank this week, hence this mundane post…

Sculptra – The Non-Surgical Face Lift?

10 December 2009

Non-invasive aesthetic treatments are becoming more popular and Sculptra is the latest anti aging treatment generating lots of buzz in the market.  Made up of poly-L-lactic acid and delivered underneath the skin via injections, Sculptra is a collagen stimulator that will encourage your own collagen to grow.

It is especially good for hollowed out areas of the face due to aging like sunken temples, tear troughs (area under the eyes), droopy cheeks and deep nasolabial folds around the mouth. Patients will gradually look more rejuvenated with plumped up firmness one month after treatment and results will peak at around three months. Unlike fillers which is immediate, Sculptra works gradually to restore what has been lost and once your treatment plan is complete, results can last for up to 2 years.

Here are some pictures of a Sculptra workshop I attended this afternoon organised by the Anti Aging & Aesthetics Medicine Society Of Singapore:

Botox ® And Fillers – More Than Just Wrinkle Fillers

4 December 2009

Last evening, I attended a Facial Remodelling workshop organised by facial remodelling expert, Dr Z. Facial remodelling is a procedure whereby you use Botox ® and a filler like Juvederm ® to enhance facial features. For example, Botox ® is used to contour the jaw line and slim down the face and Juvederm ® is used to create a nose bridge, cheekbones and even a sharper chin!

This is the latest facial enhancement procedure that is gaining popularity as it is non-invasive and has no downtime. In fact, Dr Z says that it has been referred to as the “Friday Party Nose” as you can literally get a sharper nose in minutes and then head out to a party!

The only downside is that is it not permanent. Botox ® can last for about 4 months (the more often you do it, the longer its effects apparently) while fillers can last from 4 to 18 months (shorter for smokers, great reason to quit!). It costs from $200 for jawline up to $3,000 for a full face procedure.

Well, I kinda like that it is not permanent as I would like to be able to modify my features to suit my face as I age (argh! hate that word). I also like the fact that I don’t have to go under the knife and that it is quite painless. Fillers are also made from hylauronic acid, which is a substance that is already found in our body, so it is natural. Enough talking, I’ll let the pictures do the talking below:

Facial Remodelling expert, Dr Z

I’m looking forward to attending a Facial Remodelling Workshop conducted by facial remodelling expert, Dr Z, next Friday. At the workshop, he will educate us on Botox and fillers as well as do live demonstrations on 2 lucky attendees!

I’ve seen Dr Z in action before, in fact, I was a patient of his – he helped smoothen out the bump on my nose with two quick and painless injections of fillers. Facial remodelling is the latest non-invasive, non-surgical facial enhancement treatment with no down-time.

Anti Aging Myth

12 November 2009
Youthful skin

Youthful skin

Most people think that they should only start using anti aging products when they are in their 40s or when they get  wrinkles and saggy skin. That is a myth.

In fact, anti aging is all about “freezing” your face when it is still in a good condition, not when it falls apart then do something about it. Maintanence is better than cure so we should start using anti aging products when we are in our early 20s.

Start with easy-to-use products like eye creams and a night moisturiser. The area around the eye is thin so extra care should be taken early to prevent wrinkles from appearing there. A good moisturiser is essential at night to rejuvenate and hydrate skin, especially when you sleep in an air-conditioned room. Sun block is also a must even if the weather outside is overcast.

Aging younger is a possibility if you start an anti aging regime early!

Elizabeth Arden Prevage workshop

Elizabeth Arden Prevage workshop

I attended Elizabeth Arden’s Prevage workshop where I, together with 14 other online influencers, were treated to a preview of its latest anti aging treatment – Prevage. I felt really privileged as we are amongst the first few in Asia to be able to test out the product.

It was really fun to meet all the online influencers – bloggers, youtube stars and active forumers – everyone an avid beauty fan…and so young! Most were in their early 20s and I felt like an aunty. They were also incredibly professional, immediately whipping out their cameras and snapping away for their blogs.

Elizabeth Arden’s presentation was very informative and I  learnt many new words – namely idebenone and EPF.

Idebenone: The key ingredient in Prevage, it is one of the most powerful and effective antioxidants in the market today and is the bio-engineered version of co-enzyme, Q10, our body’s own free radical quencher. It is used to treat Alzheimer’s disease as well as preserve organs for transplant. It is now used in Prevage to preserve the cells on our face!

EPF:  This stands for Environmental Protection Factor and is the first ever protocol, developed by a group of scientists, to measure the oxidative stress protection efficacy.  Prevage received an EPF rating of 95 out of 100.

Prevage Night cream

Review:

I tried the Prevage night cream which smelt slightly medicinal and was orange in colour, thanks to the idebenone. The cream felt very rich and luxurious on my skin . However, as I already have oily skin, it felt slightly heavy. The trick is to apply it just before I sleep in my aircon room and let it work its magic as I slept. I woke up with softer skin and the fine lines under my eyes were smoothened out.

Anti Aging Secrets Of The Japanese

22 October 2009

I’ve just returned from a wonderful holiday in Tokyo. What an awesome city – stylish and polite people, fabulous food, clean city full of creative retail ideas…I could go on forever!

While there, I realised that the Japanese are leaders when it comes to anti aging. Most of the older folks have great skin, a full head of hair and are sprightly. It doesn’t help that they are savvy dressers too!

Anti Aging Secrets of the Japanese

Anti Aging Secrets of the Japanese

So what is their anti aging secret? I think it boils down to these factors:

1. Physical exercise – Most young people prefer bicycles to cars and walk everywhere. Dishwashers and dryers are also non-existent probably due to space contraints so they have to do these chores manually.

2. Mental exercise – Japanese are avid readers, they are one of the largest consumers of printed material and seldom watch TV. They also enjoy puzzles like Sodoku.

3. Fresh foods – Their food is centred around freshness and they seldom eat processed foods. Meat consumption is low and they eat mostly beans, fish and vegetables. Servings are also small and desserts are kept for special occasions. Not to mention, they down copious amounts of green tea which is full of anti-oxidants.

I’m heading to the grocery store to stock up on green tea tomorrow…
